Community - Gardening Club

Gardening Club

The Rhosgoch & District Gardening Club was formed in the early 2000s by the late Isa Lloyd and has around 40 members. A small annual membership fee enables us to invite guest speakers to speak on a variety of subjects, from specialist gardening talks to general interest presentations. Recently we have had talks on Life in the Hedgerow, The Beauty of Japan, The Sinking of the Titanic, and Local Social History. We are a friendly bunch and enjoy the social side of meeting each other as much as the talks.

We also arrange garden visits, usually in the spring/summer months, and these have included going to National Trust properties, local gardens in the National Garden Scheme and Hereford Cathedral. Occasionally we go further afield on a coach trip, and in 2019 visited St Fagan’s and Dyffryn House and Gardens.

We have three key events each year – the annual dinner in January, Bingo at Easter, and the Annual Flower and Vegetable Show in August. The Show is a real highlight, with some great floral and edible entries, as well as arts and crafts.

The monthly meetings are held in Rhosgoch Golf Club and usually start at 7:30pm. Meeting dates are advertised in the Gossip. There is also a private Facebook Group for Club members who are also on Facebook, and this is used to promote events, share gardening tips and photos and generally keep us connected throughout the year.

We are always keen to welcome new members; if you are interested in finding out more, please send us an email.
